Sea Walking in Andaman
Get the best Andaman tour package with Tripzzy and participate in sea walking in Portblair, one of the best experiences here.
Among Andaman’s major attractions is the sea that surrounds it, or more particularly, the various plant and life forms one finds there. And while it may sound strange, the best way to explore this entirely different world is by walking on the seabed.
And that is precisely what sea walking is all about. Compared to scuba diving, it uses less equipment and gives you a far better opportunity to witness the aquatic highlights of Andaman.

How Does Sea Walking Work?
There are a few spots in Andaman with sea walking facilities for tourists. And while the underwater features are certainly different, the way sea walking takes place is mostly the same.
The person participating in sea walking wears a helmet that covers their head, neck and some part of the shoulders. It looks like a pearl diver’s helmet but with an oxygen supply attached for the wearer.
And that is connected to a boat on the surface, that transports you to the spot for sea walking in Andaman, and back.
The wearer is then lowered on the seabed, following which he/she can move around freely while breathing normally thanks to the apparatus. And of course, be in close vicinity with the various marine plant and animal life.
Now the activity takes place on fixed trails, in shallow and calm waters. The entire thing takes place under the guidance of professional divers.
Also, there is usually a limit on the count of people that may sea walk at the same time, as well as other regulations.
Can Non-swimmers Participate in Sea Walking in Andaman?
One of the major benefits of sea walking, compared to scuba diving is that you don’t have to know swimming. You are not only connected to the boat at all times, but the activity itself involves no swimming.
Which Places in Andaman Offer Sea Walking?
As of now, only the Elephant beach on Havelock Island, and North Bay Beach near Port Blair conduct sea walking in Andaman. So if you’re interested in sea walking, you’d get access to it from either of these two places.
